1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage subcontractors on a project

During a major electrical upgrade at a manufacturing facility, I was tasked with coordinating 4 specialist subcontractors over a 3-week shutdown period. The situation was challenging as each contractor had different schedules and the client needed operations resumed on time. I created a detailed coordination plan, held daily briefings at 7am, and established clear communication protocols. When one subcontractor fell behind on cable installation, I reallocated resources and brought in additional support. The project was completed 2 days ahead of schedule, saving the client £8,400 in lost production time and earning praise from the facility manager.
2Question

Describe a situation where you worked autonomously to complete a complex task

I was called to investigate intermittent power failures affecting a critical production line at a food processing plant. Working alone during night shifts, I systematically tested each circuit and discovered the issue was caused by moisture ingress in a junction box that only occurred during specific humidity conditions. I developed a comprehensive testing protocol, monitored the system for 5 nights, and implemented a permanent solution involving improved sealing and ventilation. My autonomous approach prevented £15,000 in potential production losses and the client adopted my monitoring protocol across their other facilities.
