1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded sales targets - what was your approach?

In my previous role, I was tasked with achieving £180,000 in quarterly sales but was tracking 15% behind by month two. I analysed my customer data and identified that existing clients had 40% higher order values than new prospects. I shifted my strategy to focus on account development, scheduling monthly check-ins with my top 25 accounts and introducing complementary products. I also created a referral incentive programme that generated 12 new leads. This approach helped me finish the quarter at £215,000, exceeding target by 19% and earning recognition as top performer.
2Question

Describe a situation where you built a strong relationship with a difficult trade customer

I inherited a contractor account that had complained about delayed deliveries and poor communication for six months. During our first meeting, I discovered they needed materials delivered before 7am for their commercial projects. I worked with our logistics team to arrange early morning slots and set up automated SMS updates for all their orders. I also visited their site weekly to check progress and address any issues immediately. Within three months, their order frequency increased from monthly to weekly, and they referred four new contractors to us, generating £45,000 in additional business.
