1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a challenging sales target

Last year, I was set a quarterly target of £120,000 in sales during a particularly slow market period. The situation was challenging because our main competitor had launched an aggressive pricing campaign. I took action by identifying 25 existing customers who hadn't purchased in 6 months and personally visited each one to understand their current needs. I also developed a referral programme offering 5% discounts for successful introductions. Through these targeted relationship-building efforts and by focusing on value rather than price, I achieved £147,000 in sales, exceeding the target by 22% and securing 8 new long-term accounts.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

I once dealt with a trade customer who had received poor service from our company previously and was extremely sceptical about working with us again. The customer had lost £3,200 due to delayed deliveries on a previous project. I took responsibility for the past issues and arranged an immediate site visit to understand their current project requirements. I provided daily progress updates, personally oversaw the delivery schedule, and arranged priority processing for their £8,500 order. By consistently following through on every commitment and providing transparent communication, I rebuilt their trust. They became one of our top 10 customers, generating £45,000 in business over the following year.
