1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a challenging sales target

Situation: My manager set an ambitious quarterly target of £85,000 in sales, which was 25% higher than the previous quarter. Task: I needed to develop a strategy to not only meet but exceed this challenging goal. Action: I analysed my customer database and identified 12 high-value prospects who had shown interest but hadn't committed. I scheduled face-to-face meetings with each, prepared tailored presentations highlighting specific benefits for their businesses, and implemented a follow-up system with weekly check-ins. I also expanded my networking by attending 3 trade events to generate new leads. Result: I achieved £102,000 in sales, exceeding the target by 20%. This success led to my promotion to senior sales consultant and recognition as top performer for the quarter.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

Situation: A long-standing trade customer was frustrated after receiving a delayed kitchen delivery that caused problems with their client installation timeline. Task: I needed to rebuild their trust and maintain the relationship while resolving the immediate issue. Action: I immediately visited their site to assess the situation, took full responsibility for the delay, and worked with our logistics team to expedite a replacement delivery within 48 hours. I also provided a 15% discount on their next order and established weekly progress calls for their ongoing projects. Result: The customer not only continued working with us but increased their monthly orders by 30% over the following 6 months. They also referred 4 new trade customers to our depot, generating £45,000 in additional revenue.
