1Question

Tell me about a time you had to deliver in challenging weather conditions

During Storm Eunice last February, I had 14 deliveries scheduled across Somerset despite 70mph winds and heavy rain. I contacted each retailer that morning to confirm safe access and adjusted my route to prioritise the most exposed locations first. I used extra securing straps for the load and took additional time at each stop to ensure safe handballing of goods. Despite the conditions, I completed 13 of 14 deliveries safely, with only one postponed due to fallen trees blocking access. The retailers appreciated the communication and commitment to service during difficult conditions.
2Question

How do you handle last-minute changes to your delivery schedule?

Last month, I received a call at 7am adding three urgent deliveries to my existing 11-stop route for a retailer's weekend promotion. I quickly replanned the route using my knowledge of traffic patterns, grouping the new stops geographically to minimise backtracking. I contacted affected customers to update arrival times and prioritised the time-sensitive promotional stock. By reorganising my lunch break and working efficiently, I completed all 14 deliveries on schedule. The retailer's weekend promotion launched successfully, and my manager commended my adaptability and customer focus.
