1Question

Tell me about a time you had to influence a customer to try a new product

When launching a new energy drink range, I approached the owner of a busy convenience store who was reluctant to stock it due to limited shelf space. I analysed his sales data and identified that his current energy drink sales peaked between 2-4pm with office workers. I proposed a 2-week trial with prime positioning near the checkout, offering to personally merchandise the display and track sales hourly. I created a simple comparison chart showing potential £180 weekly revenue based on footfall patterns. After seeing £340 in sales during the first week, he agreed to a permanent listing and ordered 3 cases for the following month.
2Question

Describe a situation where you exceeded your sales targets

During Q3, my territory target was £28,000 but I was tracking at only £24,500 by month two. I identified that 12 licensed premises weren't ordering our premium mixers despite serving cocktails. I created a tailored presentation showing how our tonic water could increase their cocktail margins by £1.20 per serve. I visited each venue during their quiet afternoon periods, offered free samples to bar staff, and provided branded point-of-sale materials. This focused approach generated £6,800 in new orders, helping me finish the quarter at £31,200 — 111% of target. The regional manager used my mixer strategy across other territories.
