1Question

Tell me about a time you had to influence a difficult customer to make a purchase

A convenience store owner in my previous territory was resistant to stocking our premium range, citing space constraints. I analysed his sales data and discovered his afternoon energy drink sales peaked at 3pm when local college students visited. I proposed a targeted display of 24 units near the entrance, backed by demographic data showing 67% purchase likelihood. I offered a 2-week trial with guaranteed buy-back if unsold. The display generated £340 in additional weekly revenue, and he expanded the range to 48 units. This fact-based approach turned a reluctant customer into my highest-performing account.
2Question

Describe a situation where you exceeded your sales targets. What was your approach?

Last quarter, my target was £45k but I achieved £52k by focusing on underperforming accounts. I identified 12 customers buying below category average and conducted individual business reviews using tablet-based presentations. I discovered most lacked proper refrigeration positioning, so I negotiated better shelf placement and provided point-of-sale materials. I also introduced a monthly promotional calendar aligned with local events. This systematic approach increased average order value by 28% across these accounts, contributing the extra £7k that pushed me 16% above target while strengthening long-term relationships.
