1Question

Tell me about a time you had to make a quick decision to meet business needs

During a night shift, our main production line's hydraulic system failed, threatening to halt operations for 200 staff the next morning. I quickly assessed the situation and identified a faulty pressure valve. Rather than waiting for the morning engineering team, I made the decision to source a replacement valve from our emergency stock and performed the repair myself. I coordinated with the production supervisor to safely isolate the system and completed the repair within 3 hours. This quick decision-making prevented 8 hours of production downtime, saving approximately £15,000 in lost productivity and maintaining our delivery commitments to clients.
2Question

Describe a situation where you worked with different levels of management

When implementing a new CMMS system, I needed to coordinate between shop floor operators, production supervisors, and senior management. I organised training sessions for 12 operators on data input procedures, provided weekly progress reports to production supervisors, and presented cost-benefit analysis to the engineering manager. I adapted my communication style for each level, using technical details with supervisors but focusing on efficiency gains and ROI for senior management. The project was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule, with 98% user adoption rate and immediate improvements in maintenance tracking accuracy.
