1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to work under pressure to meet a tight deadline

During a major tender submission, I had 48 hours to prepare cost estimates for 8 electrical installation projects worth £850,000. I prioritised the largest projects first, worked systematically through technical drawings, and used Excel templates to speed up calculations. I coordinated with 3 suppliers for material pricing and stayed until 9pm both nights to ensure accuracy. I submitted all estimates 4 hours before deadline with 98% accuracy, and we won 6 of the 8 projects, securing £640,000 in new business.
2Question

Describe a situation where your attention to detail prevented a costly mistake

While reviewing a £120,000 industrial electrical project estimate, I noticed the cable specifications didn't match the technical drawings. The original estimate used standard 2.5mm cable, but the drawings required 4mm for the motor circuits. I recalculated the materials cost, which increased by £8,400, and flagged this with the engineering team. My attention to detail prevented a potential £15,000 loss from having to upgrade cables mid-project and maintained our reputation with the client.
