1Question

Describe a time you had to learn a complex product or service quickly and then explain it to a client or prospect. How did you approach it?

During my placement at a logistics firm, I was given 3 days to understand their new supply chain software before presenting it to 6 prospective clients. I broke down the system into three core modules, created a simple one-page visual guide, and practised my pitch with the sales director. In the first client meeting, I explained how the software would reduce their order processing time from 2 days to 4 hours—they signed a 2-year contract worth £18,000. The experience taught me that clients care less about technical features and more about business outcomes, so I always lead with impact rather than complexity.
2Question

Tell us about a situation where you worked independently without close supervision. How did you stay motivated and on track?

As a university project lead, I managed a 12-week market research initiative for a tech startup with minimal oversight from the founder. I set weekly milestones, tracked progress against a spreadsheet, and conducted 24 customer interviews across three sectors. When I fell 2 weeks behind schedule due to interview cancellations, I adjusted my approach by offering phone calls instead of in-person meetings, which actually improved response rates by 40%. I delivered the final report 5 days early with actionable insights that led to a £15,000 pivot in their product roadmap. The independence taught me that self-accountability and flexibility drive results far more than external pressure.
