Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you successfully grew revenue in a competitive luxury market

Situation: I was tasked with expanding our luxury furniture business in Knightsbridge where three established competitors dominated the market. Task: I needed to achieve 40% revenue growth within 18 months while building credibility with high-net-worth private clients. Action: I identified that competitors focused on showroom sales, so I developed a bespoke consultation service, visiting clients' £3M+ properties personally. I also partnered with 6 exclusive interior designers who had existing relationships with our target demographic. Result: Within 15 months, I secured 28 new private clients, generated £1.9M in new business, and achieved 52% revenue growth, exceeding targets by 12%. The personalised approach became our signature service offering.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build credibility with senior stakeholders

Situation: I was introduced to the development director of a £150M Mayfair residential project who was sceptical about working with our relatively new interiors business. Task: I needed to secure a £800k furniture package contract against two established competitors with 20+ year track records. Action: I researched their previous developments extensively and prepared a detailed proposal showing how our pieces would complement the building's Georgian architecture. I arranged visits to 4 of our completed projects in similar PCL locations and provided references from 3 comparable developments. Result: The director was impressed by my preparation and market knowledge. We secured the full contract worth £820k, and he subsequently recommended us to 2 other developers in his network, generating an additional £1.2M in pipeline opportunities.
