1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded sales targets. What strategies did you use?

In my previous role, I was tasked with achieving £180k in quarterly sales but was tracking at only 78% by month two. I analysed my customer data and identified that my conversion rate was strong, but I wasn't generating enough leads. I implemented a proactive outreach strategy, making 25 additional customer calls per week and following up on dormant accounts. I also started offering free consultations to build trust with hesitant prospects. This approach generated 40% more qualified leads and allowed me to close £215k in sales, exceeding my target by 119%. The strategy became a template for our entire team.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

I had a trade customer who had experienced poor service from a previous supplier and was extremely sceptical about our capabilities. During our first meeting, he questioned every product specification and delivery timeframe. Instead of being defensive, I acknowledged his concerns and provided detailed documentation for all claims, including third-party certifications and customer testimonials. I also arranged for him to visit our depot to see our quality control processes firsthand. Over three weeks, I maintained regular contact with progress updates and proactively addressed potential issues. This transparency converted him into one of our most loyal customers, placing £85k in orders over the following year.
