The Opportunity
IT Project Manager – Enterprise Systems Transformation

Hybrid working – based from one of the following locations:
Sunderland | London | Aintree | Wakefield | Thurmaston - Fixed-term contract

We’re working with a large, complex enterprise organisation in the transport and infrastructure sector that is midway through a major enterprise transformation programme, centred around Oracle Fusion ERP, alongside an established Workday platform.

They’re looking for a hands-on IT Project Manager to support a critical delivery phase — someone who can work comfortably in the detail, collaborate closely with IT teams and third-party partners, and keep multiple workstreams aligned.

This is not a light-touch oversight role. You’ll be embedded within delivery and act as a key connector across technology, programme and business teams.

What you'll be doing?
  • Coordinating IT delivery activity across a complex Oracle Fusion programme
  • Translating System Integrator requirements into clear, actionable plans for internal IT teams
  • Managing and maintaining RAID, delivery controls, dependencies and integration plans
  • Working closely with IT teams across integrations, environments, testing and readiness
  • Supporting governance, reporting and decision-making at programme and steering-group level
  • Ensuring IT deliverables are sequenced and aligned to overall programme milestones
  • Driving delivery clarity and momentum in a fast-moving transformation environment

What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience delivering IT or enterprise systems transformation projects
  • Strong understanding of RAID, controls, governance and delivery assurance
  • Comfortable working with IT teams, system integrators and third-party vendors
  • Experience in Oracle Fusion programmes (ERP / Finance / EPM / SCM) highly desirable
  • Confident operating within complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Practical, delivery-focused mindset with the confidence to get into detail

Why join?
  • Large-scale, high-profile transformation programme
  • Hybrid working from multiple UK locations
  • Long-term contract offering both stability and challenge
  • Opportunity to make a real impact during a critical phase of delivery

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to coordinate multiple IT workstreams under tight deadlines

During a critical Oracle ERP upgrade, we had 6 parallel workstreams running simultaneously with a fixed go-live date. I established daily stand-ups with each workstream lead and created a master dependency matrix tracking 47 interdependencies. When testing revealed integration issues 2 weeks before go-live, I coordinated emergency sessions between the database team and 3 System Integrators. By reallocating 4 developers from lower-priority streams and extending daily check-ins to twice daily, we resolved all critical issues and delivered on schedule, avoiding £180,000 in business disruption costs.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to translate complex technical requirements for business stakeholders

Our System Integrator delivered a 47-page technical specification for Oracle Fusion financial reporting that the finance director couldn't interpret for budget approval. I created a 3-page executive summary mapping each technical component to specific business outcomes, including projected efficiency gains and compliance benefits. I organised a workshop where the technical team demonstrated key functionality using real financial data scenarios. This approach secured approval for the £890,000 implementation phase and established a template for future technical communications across the programme.
