1Question

Tell me about a time when you led a curriculum change initiative

When our school needed to redesign the KS3 History curriculum to improve engagement, I led a 6-month project involving 4 department colleagues. I analysed pupil feedback showing 65% found medieval history disconnected from modern life. I developed a thematic approach linking medieval social structures to contemporary issues, piloting with 2 Year 8 classes. We created new assessment criteria and resource packs. The result was a 22% increase in pupil engagement scores and 15% improvement in end-of-unit assessments, leading to school-wide adoption.
2Question

Describe how you have worked collaboratively with senior leadership teams

During our OFSTED preparation, I worked directly with the Deputy Head to strengthen our humanities provision evidence. We identified gaps in cross-curricular literacy tracking across our 180 KS4 students. I coordinated with 3 humanities colleagues to implement shared assessment rubrics and created a tracking system showing pupil progress. I presented findings to the full SLT monthly, demonstrating 28% improvement in extended writing skills. This collaboration resulted in humanities being highlighted as outstanding practice during the inspection.
