1Question

Tell me about a time you had to influence a difficult customer to make a purchase

A pub landlord was resistant to stocking our premium soft drinks range, citing limited fridge space and slow-moving stock concerns. I analysed his sales data and identified that 35% of his customers ordered soft drinks with meals. I presented a fact-based proposal showing how our 250ml premium range would generate £180 additional weekly revenue in the same fridge space. I offered a 2-week trial with guaranteed stock rotation. By demonstrating clear commercial benefits and removing his risk, he agreed to the trial. Within 3 weeks, he placed a full order and became one of our top 10 accounts, generating £8,400 annual revenue.
2Question

Describe a situation where you exceeded your sales targets and how you achieved this

My quarterly target was £45,000 across 60 convenience stores, but I achieved £52,200 by implementing a strategic approach. I identified that 15 stores had untapped potential based on footfall data. I created tailored proposals for each location, focusing on impulse purchase positioning and promotional support. I also introduced a digital ordering system using iPad technology, reducing order processing time by 40%. This allowed me to increase call frequency from weekly to twice-weekly for key accounts. The combination of strategic targeting and improved efficiency resulted in 16% target overachievement and secured 8 new product listings.
