1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage challenging behaviour in the classroom

During my placement at a secondary school, I had a Year 9 English class with 3 students who frequently disrupted lessons through talking and refusing to participate. I implemented a structured behaviour management system with clear expectations and positive reinforcement. I spoke individually with each student to understand their concerns and adapted my teaching to include more interactive activities. Within 4 weeks, classroom disruptions decreased by 80% and all 3 students began actively participating in discussions about Romeo and Juliet.
2Question

Describe a situation where you helped a struggling student improve their English skills

I worked with a Year 10 student who was achieving grade 3 in English Language and struggling with creative writing. I identified that she lacked confidence in structuring her ideas and vocabulary range. I provided her with writing frameworks, weekly one-to-one sessions, and encouraged her to read contemporary young adult fiction. Over 6 months, her creative writing improved significantly, and she achieved grade 6 in her mock GCSE, demonstrating clear progress in both technical accuracy and creative expression.
