1Question

Tell me about a time you had to support students in a practical learning environment

During a challenging KS4 resistant materials project, 12 students were struggling with router techniques for their acrylic display cases. I identified the safety concerns and skill gaps, then created a step-by-step demonstration station with safety protocols clearly displayed. I worked with each student individually, showing proper grip techniques and feed rates. As a result, all 12 students completed their projects safely within the 3-week deadline, with 10 achieving distinction grades and zero safety incidents recorded.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to work independently to solve a workshop problem

The main bandsaw broke down on Monday morning with 6 woodwork classes scheduled that week for their GCSE coursework. I diagnosed the issue as a worn drive belt and contacted suppliers immediately. While waiting for parts, I reorganised the workshop layout to maximise use of 2 smaller bandsaws and hand tools, created new cutting schedules, and informed teachers of revised lesson plans. I completed the repair by Wednesday, ensuring all 150 students could continue their projects without significant delays to their coursework timeline.
