1Question

Tell me about a time you had to work under pressure to meet delivery deadlines

During a particularly busy Christmas period, I was assigned 15 trunk runs that needed completion before depot closure at 6pm. Three vehicles had mechanical issues, leaving our 8-driver team short-staffed. I volunteered to take on additional runs and reorganised my route to cover 18 deliveries instead of my usual 12. I maintained all safety checks and chill chain protocols while completing the final delivery at 5:45pm. This ensured all stores received their stock for the next trading day, contributing to £45,000 in sales that wouldn't have been possible without the deliveries.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a safety issue and how you handled it

During my pre-journey vehicle inspection, I noticed the refrigeration unit temperature was reading 8°C instead of the required 2°C for chilled products. Rather than proceeding with the £12,000 worth of dairy products, I immediately reported the fault to the depot manager and completed a detailed defect book entry. I arranged for the load to be transferred to a backup vehicle while the faulty unit was repaired. This 90-minute delay prevented potential food safety violations and protected both customer health and Tesco's reputation. The maintenance team later confirmed the cooling system had a refrigerant leak.
