1Question

Why are you looking to change careers into programming?

I recognised that my current retail management role, while rewarding, offered limited growth potential in an increasingly digital economy. After researching industry trends, I discovered that web development offers strong starting salaries of £27,000+ and excellent progression opportunities. I began exploring programming through free online tutorials and found myself genuinely excited by problem-solving through code. The combination of creative and logical thinking required in web development aligns perfectly with my strengths. This trainee programme offers the structured learning path and job guarantee I need to make this transition successfully, moving from a declining retail sector into the UK's fastest-growing tech industry.
2Question

How do you plan to manage learning programming while potentially working?

I've already demonstrated strong time management skills by completing evening courses while working full-time in my previous role. For this programme, I plan to dedicate 15-20 hours per week to the online training, studying primarily in the evenings and weekends. I've set up a dedicated workspace at home with reliable internet and minimal distractions. My current employer is supportive of my career development plans, allowing me some flexibility in my schedule. I've also blocked out specific study times in my calendar and informed family members of my commitment. The self-paced nature of the online format means I can accelerate through topics I grasp quickly while spending extra time on challenging concepts like JavaScript fundamentals.
