1Question

Tell me about a time you managed multiple competing priorities on complex matters

I was managing three concurrent infrastructure projects totalling £85M when a fourth urgent rail procurement matter arose requiring immediate attention. I assessed each project's critical path and identified that two could be delayed by 48 hours without affecting client deadlines. I restructured my week, delegating initial document reviews to junior colleagues while maintaining oversight. I completed the urgent rail matter within 72 hours and delivered all four projects on schedule. This experience taught me the importance of systematic prioritisation and effective delegation in high-pressure environments.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build relationships with new clients

When our firm won a major energy infrastructure mandate, I was assigned to work with a new utilities client who had previously used different legal advisers. I arranged an initial meeting to understand their commercial objectives and preferred communication style. I discovered they valued regular updates and practical solutions over lengthy legal analysis. I implemented weekly progress calls and provided concise summaries with clear next steps. Within six weeks, the client specifically requested me for their next £40M project, citing my proactive approach and commercial understanding as key factors in their decision.
