1Question

Tell me about a time you managed a team through a high-pressure live broadcast situation

During a major sporting event broadcast, we experienced a primary feed failure 15 minutes before going live to 3 million viewers. I immediately activated our emergency protocols, coordinating with my 8-person MCR team to switch to backup systems. I assigned specific roles: two operators managed the technical switchover, one liaised with the outside broadcast unit, and another coordinated with Production. I maintained clear communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates every 2 minutes. We successfully restored the primary feed within 8 minutes, going live seamlessly without any viewer impact. The team's confidence in our procedures and my calm leadership ensured we delivered the broadcast flawlessly.
2Question

Describe how you've improved operational efficiency in a previous role

I identified that our MCR fault reporting process was taking an average of 25 minutes per incident, causing delays in live operations. I analysed 6 months of incident data and discovered that 60% of delays were due to unclear escalation procedures. I redesigned our Standard Operating Procedures, creating a streamlined 3-tier escalation system with defined timeframes. I trained all 15 team members on the new process over 2 weeks, implementing digital tracking tools for real-time monitoring. The result was a 40% reduction in fault resolution time to 15 minutes average, improving our broadcast reliability and reducing stress during live events.
